Can you design our new center hall colonial home – and give it a little urban edge?
This was the challenge presented to B Fein Interiors for an 80 year old Westchester Home purchased by a young couple moving from Brooklyn to the suburbs… “And we’re on a tight budget.” The living room, dining room and master bedroom were designed following the Client’s directive. To keep the interior light and a bit edgy, a shade of white was selected for the walls with a khaki-colored trim to emphasize the architectural “frame” of the room. Wood blinds at the windows are minimalist and crisp. A large wool rug anchors the living room, and a hand-knotted oriental rug in the dining room harmonizes the first floor. Patterns were minimized, and the furnishings selected have very clean lines. Mirrors with funky metal frames hang in the living room and master bedroom. Large nail heads on the dining room chairs coupled with a factory-style chandelier give the colonial home an industrial edge.
